Postal 943 Exam – Postal Automotive Mechanic

Position Description
Postal Automotive Mechanics handle repairs and maintenance on all types of postal vehicles. Typical tasks include troubleshooting and diagnosing vehicle operations using a variety of tools and test equipment. Most new postal automotive mechanics are paid an hourly rate and work a flexible schedule.

Postal 933 Exam – Maintenance Mechanic Exam

Positions

Maintenance Mechanic — maintains a wide variety of mail processing systems, as well as building, building equipment, customer service and delivery equipment. A maintenance mechanic is responsible for performing many preventive and corrective maintenance tasks that are semiskilled in nature.

Postal 932 Exam – Electronic Technicians

Position

Postal Electronic Technicians support both hardware and software systems of a variety of postal equipment. Electronic Technicians are responsible for preventative maintenance and repair of a variety of mail processing, customer service, and building operational systems. Technicians perform a wide spectrum of diagnostic, alignment and calibration, and overhaul tasks to perform their duties. Postal Electronic Technicians solve complex problems by applying their advanced technical knowledge.

Postal 931 Exam – General Maintenance Exam – Building Equipment Mechanic, Maintenance Mechanic

Positions

Building Equipment Mechanic – maintains building and building equipment systems. Building equipment mechanics perform preventative maintenance and inspections of building, building equipment and building systems. Additionally, they troubleshoot and maintain large automated HVAC systems.

Postal 710 Exam – Clerical Abilities – Data Conversion Operator

Position Description

The role of a Data Conversion Operator (DCO) is to prepare mail for automated sorting equipment. Typically, Data Conversion Operators will use a computer terminal to type in address information that they obtain from typed or handwritten mail. The information is used to create an address bar code that can be applied to the letter to allow for automated sorting. Most DCOs will begin as temporary employees at large postal facilities. Sometimes these positions will lead to full-time career positions. Data Conversion Operators are required to pass the Postal Exam 710 (Clerical Abilities Test).
